July 4th Newletter

Friends,

It’s hard to believe that we are already to the beginning of July. A “Happy 4th of July” to all! A special prayer of thanksgiving for all those who so bravely protect our great nation and have done so for generations! July 4th has always been a special day in my family! It was my Grandmother’s birthday”¦she would have been 110 this year! It is hard to imagine that; loved her so”¦Where is all the time going?!?

Things are busy here in New Orleans! I recently sang for a beautiful Mass with the MIR Group on the anniversary of the apparitions of Our Lady. Previously this week, I had the privilege of singing for the Kenner City Mayoral Inauguration. The inspiring Inaugural Mass and Ceremony were beautiful and I am honored to have been a part of it. There is great hope for the future of the City of Kenner!

I had hoped that this email would announce the release of my new website, but due to technical difficulties that is not the case. I apologize to anyone who has tried to access my website in the past few days and was unable. My domain has been temporarily reconnected to the previous server and is now viewable until all the kinks can be worked out and the new site is up and running. Please be on the lookout for an announcement that my new site has been launched. As always you can find the site at: tfotigenco.com

I am happy to announce that this year the “Catholic Grammys” (UCMVA), United Catholic Music and Video Association, will be having there awards in Canada! I am excited to announce that I have been nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year. My songs, from my latest release INSPIRED CLASSICS, have also been nominated in a number of different categories. Bravo to all my friends who helped make this wonderful project happen! Nominations are: “Wherever You Go”; Liturgical/Sacramental. “Christmas Lullaby” Seasonal Song ; “Ave Maria” and “Laudate Dominum” Devotional Song. Lastly, the entire project INSPIRED CLASSICS has been nominated for Devotional Album of the Year and Joe Hand for Producer of the Year.

On a regional front, please continue to pray for our beloved coast! As the number of days increase and the list of beaches effected by the oil spill continues to grow, please continue to support our region by visiting and eating LOTS of seafood! In an effort to help I am donating 50% of all CD sales during the month of July and August to Gulf Aid. Please use this great opportunity to stock up on Christmas gifts and help the coast. My CDs can be purchased online fromtfotigenco.com, CDbaby.com and CatholicMusicNetwork.com. You can find more information about Gulf Aid at gulfaid.org. I am lining up concerts to help out Parishes affected, so stay tuned! For more info or to schedule a concert contact Rachel@tfotigenco.com

In other news, I am thrilled to report that the 3 Sopranos: Praise to Raise Concert was a HUGE success! The Church was packed and we rose over $8,200 for the children in Haiti. Lorraine Hess, Kitty Cleveland and I had such a blast performing together that we hope to do so again in the near future; be on the lookout for our upcoming concerts.

I have also begun working on music for my new project LOVED! I am so excited to be starting this journey. Be on the lookout for a digital release in the near future and more news!

We are also re-designing and “fine tuning” our 2008 Christmas Project. We are booking concerts for this special release! I will be joined by Dreux Montegut (piano), Helen Maxwell (Harp), Karen Ray (cello), Anne Chabreck (flute), Vance Woolf (trumpet) and friends. Please contact tgenco@aol.com to schedule one in your parish!

Also, Immaculate Conception is in the process of finalizing its 4th Annual Fall Concert Series. Be on the lookout for updates regarding dates and times. Performers to date include a Gospel Choir, Strings, Flute, and Brass Group! I hope to see you at one of these concerts. If you would like to sponsor one of these concerts and help offset the cost please contact me at tgenco@aol.com

God Bless,

Trish

We received numerous calls and e-mails from our viewers to keep the mass on the air and I am delighted that we will be able to continue this vital outreach to the many homebound and shut-ins that we serve. Glenda King, Barbara Wick and myself spoke to many of these folks directly and it was clear that our airing of the mass and other religious programming definitly makes a difference in their lives.

Thanks to everyone for your prayers and support.

Ron

Ron Yager

WLAE General Manager

As cantor for the televised Sunday mass at St. Louis Cathedral, it would be disheartening to see PBS strike “sectarian” programming. “The Public Broadcasting Service (“PBS”) is poised to vote on June 14-15 on a revised programming policy for its affiliated television stations which, among other policies, would not permit them to air “sectarian” programs. Part of its decision will include a definition of “sectarian.” PBS’ proposed definition appears to include such programs as “The Face: Jesus in Art” and “Walking the Bible”, but excluding programs which consist of religious services (such as the Mass).” (Archdiocese of New Orleans) The Mass held at St. Louis Cathedral, which is tele vised daily in addition to the Sunday liturgy reaches people all across the greater New Orleans area, who otherwise would not be able to participate in the liturgy. This mass is seen in prisons, nursing homes, and hospitals, in addition to many others who for one reason or another can not attend a traditional mass.
PBS has met with the United States Council of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) and states that the PBS committee-council would find community reaction to the above proposal helpful in their decision making process.
